WORKING WITH ADOLESCENTS

Adolescents love Emotion-Focused Therapy.

With its focus on emotional experience this approach helps adolescents to better understand what is happening for them. The verbal and creative unpacking techniques really suits them helping them become aware, express and create sense and meaning about their world, and them in the world. Whether you are working with a teen who is struggling to open up, a defensive teen who resents seeing you or a teen drowning in their emotions Emotion-Focused work offers a way to be with each, and everyone in between. For those familiar with Michelle’s research and work with Emotional Signature we will see how this is applied with adolescents.

This workshop will explore how to work with adolescents using Emotion-Focused work. Clinical tapes will be used to illustrate the work, and there will be an opportunity for mini-practices. This workshop will be facilitated by Rochelle and Michelle. Rochelle has been working in a school setting and in private practice with teenagers for the past 8 years and has increasingly used Emotion-Focused techniques over this time.
